Irena
Popovic (1974 ) has finished the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade,
Department for Composition, in the class of Professor Srdjan Hofman.
Her compositions have been performed at many festivals, concerts
and competitions. She has composed music for many festivals of
jazz and improvised music, as a vocal performer and piano player,
and is actively engaged in improvisations within specific workshops,
where she cooperates with informal theatre troups.
She has directed and organized many concerts and performances,
but anyway the most famous is her stage adaptation of senberg’s
"Pierrot Lunaire", which has been performed as premiere
in 1998, within the composers’ platform in Belgrade.
She is the founder of the group "Preradjivacka industrija muzickog
materijala" (music material processing industry), gathering
performers and composers acting in various environments and she insists
on blending various kinds of artistic expressions, with the tendency
to grow them into moving “music-poetry theatre”. Within
this group, a special branch is represented by growing vocal-cultural
artistic society of women, under the title “Oh, meine liebe
Constanze”, that cherishes and presents women’s creativity. |
