BOBAN BJELIC.
A professor of the accordion at the Academy of Music in Cetinje
and the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. In Moscow, he obtained
a university degree and a master's degree in playing the accordion
with prof. Friedrich Lipps. Bjelic's repertoire varies from
classic works to avant-garde. He is a member of the Tango Nova
band, and this year he cooperated in the realization of the
project "TilNo BeAm", with domestic and Dutch musicians.
LELO NIKA. Born in the village of Nikolinci,
80 kilometers north from Belgrade, Lelo Nika carries in his
genome the volatile mixture of the Serbian and Romanian Gypsy
tradition. Although his family had first moved to Denmark,
when Lelo was only one year old, and later to Sweden, the decisive
moment in Lelo's learning of the secrets of the accordion was
the three-year stay in Serbia, during which Lelo, then at the
age of 10, was a pupil of the famous Branimir Djokic. However,
the crucial influence on Lelo's development came from Ionel
Corneanu. Lelo Nika's performance falls outside of categories
of virtuosity - it is pure expression. Blending dreams and
reality, his accordion gives birth to stories that stir the
imagination.
IVICA VUCELJA. After spending 16 years in
Dalmatia and Belgium, actively playing, Ivica Vucelja, composer
and author of the project Balkanto Vero, returned to Serbia
and recorded a nostalgic album. During his career, he has cooperated
with world-known artists, such as Andrej Serban, Catherine
de La Salle and the Royal Tata Miranda Gypsy Orchestra. He
has published two albums in Belgium, and a third one is in
preparation.
Three accordion players, three different traditions and artistic
approaches. The accordion is a traditional, but also a classical
instrument. The three masters blend tango, Balkan and gypsy
sound with creative participation. |
