concerts have the energy of the best rock'n'roll gigs. She
has just published her second album, which has been glorified
by the critics, but hearing her live - that's an experience.
Galicia is an area of Spain with the richest musical traditions,
handed down from generation to generation by women. Having
collected almost forgotten songs, Mercedes Peon, a girl from
Galicia, recorded her first album four years ago and set up
a band which was the first to lead the Galician music revival.
Traditional instruments and songs acquire new dimensions in
concert. There are very few world music performers whose "live"
act can be said to have rock'n'roll energy. Authorial contribution
