The most Belgrade-like
of all local rock bands, with a new program and a special video
screening. Their music sounds convincing and exciting yet,
on the other hand, normal and warm. Fine city boys at a fine
city festival.
The band JARBOLI was created in 1991 or 1992. No one remembers
when anymore, but this is actually not important because they
have no intention of celebrating jubilees. The band was founded
by Daniel Kovac, Boris Mladenovic, Zsolt Kovac and Nemanja
Acimovic. As of 2001, Sonja Loncar also plays in JARBOLI.
In the beginning, they tried to play as much as possible,
to make their music and performances interesting and witty.
They have not recorded anything in particular, and, for many
(justifiable) reasons, they have avoided and despised the media.
They have been the favourite opening band for many "majors",
and have often played at informal or unusual venues (fashion
shows and theatre plays by Ljudmila Stratimirovic at the "Bosko
Buha" and "Bitef Teatar" theatres. at openings
of exhibitions at the REX, at the performance on futurism at
the Belgrade City Library, etc.) and in the smallest clubs
in Belgrade (club "Bunker", currently known as the
Small Club of the "Dom Omladine Beograda").
In the period from 1996 to this day, they have had five releases.
Much of their production has been realized in household, almost
no-budget conditions, and this has lately been the only form
of production that is accessible for them and in which they
feel good. Members of the band have given a contribution to
the founding of some of the most important independent cultural
institutions in Belgrade (LOW-FI VIDEO, REMONT).
