The Clear Brooks
Family has been
living in nature since 1977. In the search for beauty and paths of renewal
and preservation, the work of this theater group is based on the relation
between man and nature as the new aesthetic proposition for the revival
of art. Their plays are based on the body, screams, voices, words and
inner belief, joint work in the garden, and intimate dedication to the
earth. The foundation of their theatrical expression, sculptures and
written proposals, is derived from honesty, courage and simplicity.
WORDS, WATER and MAN represent the basis of this year's address by
the Family of Clear Streams in the plays "Words
in Motion", "Man
Plus Man" and "Everywhereness".
"Words in Motion" are a search for the still unspent, chaste
and innocent, angelic words which can declare something. which are
exciting. which are living deep down in us and are bringing forth our
true "self". The play dedicated to water develops the symbol
of the struggle for pureness and authenticity of origin, through exploring
the paths of the water's appearance and disappearance.
Finally, in the play "Man Plus Man", the Clear
Brooks Family recognises that two principles can be distinguished
in every garden: the wild plant that is unlikely to die, and the
cultivated one that surrenders easily. By proving the powerlessness
of the postulates of modern society, embodied in comfort, money,
technology, information and speed, the Clear
Brooks Family shows the power of the suppressed,
wild principle that leads towards the renewal of man and culture.
