It happened in July 1952,
in a Red Cross – sponsored children rehabilitation center
on the small island of Školje, Gospa od Milosti (Lady
of Mercy), which was a Benedictine monastery until mid of the
15the century, and later on a Franciscan monastery. In the
early 9th century, the Church of St. Stefan was located there.
The founders of the church were of the Slav background - Urok
(Hurokus) and Dana. The curiosity of the place is a Roman altar
devoted to Junnona Lucchini, the protector of child- bearing
women, considered to be an archeological rarity.
