The work explores the identity of local people in the context of transition and the bid for EU membership (rigid, nationalistic, isolationist, fearful and skeptical, toadyish, burdened with an inferiority complex).

An elderly married couple lies in bed, asleep. The picture is bordered by a frame made up of elements from last New Year’s street decoration. Will they be there when the years-long process ends? Which year will they wake up in for the last time?

Goran Delic studied humanities at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. He graduated and mastered from the painting department of the Faculty of Visual Arts in Belgrade. He has taken part in over twenty group exhibitions and art workshops in Serbia and South-East Europe. He is into design, illustration, and copy writing.
